Comment:Visions is an opinion programme on pan-European television news channel Euronews. It features interviews with thinkers, innovators and opinion leaders in European society. FWM built the Comment:Visions website in 2010, a website which houses the monthly TV programme and acts as a thriving community network which invites special publics to comment and network.

Objectives:

Our brief was to create a community website which utilised recognised social networking and blogging functionality in order to encourage a thriving network of engaged special publics. The website had to have an intuitive CMS in order for Euronews to manage and update the website content easily.

Strategy

Graphic design was done in-house working closely with Euronews. The website was built on a heavily customised WordPress/Buddypress installation, this gave us the blogging/social networking functionality along with a very easy to use CMS.

Results:

A Euronews website survey in 2010 found:

• The users considered the site to have very clear and easily navigable discussion topics, appealing design and being easy to interact with
• In 2010 the site was best rated as having relevant topics and original concept
• The site was highly commended for providing new facts & information and stimulating further research into topics discussed
• Compared to 2008 and 2009, there has been an increase in the proportion of respondents stating that they trust the content of the site
• Over half of all website users agree that the online community element is or may be useful for their professional networking
