Tech: Carling Cup Mobile


Objectives:
- Create a mobile-friendly version of the current www.carlingcup.com website so visitors can easily view content via their mobile phone.
- Allow users to access the site whilst on the move.
- Help to strengthen Carling’s association with the League Cup.
Strategy:
- Create a site that automatically recognised if a user was viewing the site via a PC or mobile phone.
- Build a diluted version of the full site with the most important information readily available.
- Allow the content of the mobile site to be dynamic to fit the screen size depending on the type of mobile phone used to view the pages.
- Promote the new site on Carling’s Facebook page, on their website and in their monthly members’ newsletter.
Results:
- Over 21,000 page views in less than 24 hours of going live.
- Carling were delighted with the activity and as a result a smart phone app will be built.
