‘Goossens Wonen en Slapen’ is a Dutch furniture retailer with retail stores in the Netherlands and Belgium. Prior to August 2010 they had an information portal website, but wanted to expand their distribution channel to include online. Fast Web Media built a new e-commerce website built using Magento which launched on the 27th of August 2010. They wanted to raise their brand awareness and brand profile online as furniture retailers and increase total revenue by online sales.

Objectives:

• Aim to achieve top 5 rankings for at least 5 out of 10 keywords within 12 months
• Increase traffic to site through non-branded keywords by 20% within 12 months
• Increase traffic to site through branded keywords by 10% within 12 months

Strategy:

• Intensive link building strategy to raise online brand profile for non-branded keywords
• The new website was built in compliance with SEO best practice standards
• The website was optimised keeping in line with SEO optimisation best practice standards and guidelines. The content on the website was regularly updated though their ‘News’ blog on the homepage.
• Through onsite optimisation the brand profile for the brand keywords improved in the Google rankings and also drove traffic to the site.
• Optimisation of the category architecture on the website in order to improve rankings for target keywords in Google.nl

Results:

• Increase in the number of visitors to the site through brand keywords and non-brand keywords
  • Comparing 3 months for brand keywords:
    • 16.63% increase in visitors
    • September 2010 – November 2010: 119,049 visits in total
    • December 2010-February 2011: 138,842 visits in total
  • Comparing 3 months for non-brand keywords:
    • 57.68% increase in visitorsSeptember 2010 – November 2010: 64,121 visits in total
    • December 2010-February 2011: 101,105 visits in total
• Achieved the top 5 Google position for 6 of the 10 keywords within 6 months
